Total Demolition | Abatement
General Project Scope:
HOMRICH was contracted to perform approximately $8 million abatement and demolition of the former 18-story high-rise structure standing 230 feet with 515,000 square feet of floor space. It rested on a 15-foot basement and an 8-foot sub-basement. HOMRICH crews removed ACM encapsulated in concrete and concealed areas from every room within the 800-room structure.
- On-site treatment of approximately 750,000 gallons of PCB contaminated water from the basement structures.
- The entire 14-story structure was wrapped in scaffolding and cloth screening.
- The upper floors were dismantled by hand to protect the adjacent active monorail system.
- Portions of the building were demolished using a 140-foot High Reach Excavator in conjunction with burners and a crane rigging the building.
- Approximately 50,000 tons of building materials plus 6,000 tons of scrap were handled during this project.
HOMRICH was able to meet production goals and timelines, that resulted in the project completion within the contract schedule.
