General Project Scope:

To prepare for construction of the Gordie Howe International Bridge connecting Windsor, Ontario and Detroit, Michigan, HOMRICH completed environmental remediation and demolition of over 2-million square feet of structures.  The project included 165 residential buildings, 21 commercial buildings and 11 industrial sites.  Highlights include the following:

Demolition/Restoration: Over 200,000 tons of debris was handled and 100,000 tons of backfill was imported and placed.

Environmental:  Asbestos abatement performed on all properties. Characterized, managed and disposed of over 10,000 tons of contaminated soils and concrete. Handled and disposed of PCB-contaminated oil and water. Treated and discharged over 2-million gallons of Perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) contaminated water.

Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE): Exceeded the DBE subcontracting goals set by the Michigan Department of Transportation.

Schedule: Met aggressive milestone schedule deadlines over the 4-year project, working weekends and extended daily schedules when necessary.

Manpower:  Up to 10 crews and 20 excavators during peak operations.

Safety: The project started in December of 2016 and is still being completed with over 50,000 onsite manhours and zero injuries.
