General Project Scope:

As part of an overall project to repair or replace several bridges spanning seven miles of Interstate 75, HOMRICH was contracted to demolish nearly one mile of three lane northbound and southbound concrete bridge sections scheduled for replacement.

The project was completed in two phases, with the southbound lanes being demolished in spring 2017 and northbound lanes in fall 2017, once the southbound lanes had been reconstructed. HOMRICH completed each phase in approximately three weeks.

Due to the size of the concrete bridge members and the compressed schedule, HOMRICH hauled the large concrete sections to a local recycling yard and mobilized equipment to the yard to downsize and process the concrete prior to recycling. By performing the downsizing off-site, HOMRICH reduced the onsite demolition schedule by nearly 50%.
