General Project Scope:

Demolition of the baghouse at Carmeuse’s River Rouge Operation was part of a larger project to upgrade the plant’s lime collection equipment. Carmeuse contacted HOMRICH early on in the planning phase for project budgeting, scheduling and environmental inspections.

Once the new baghouse system was constructed and operational, HOMRICH abated the former baghouse outer and inner asbestos transite walls. Various pieces of equipment were salvaged, and the ductwork, fans and motors were removed from the active lime kiln. Our Ultra High Reach Excavator was utilized to safely take down the two baghouse structures, one which was only two feet away from the new baghouse.

HOMRICH crews worked closely with plant managers to coordinate the demolition work as to not interfere with ongoing plant operations. With careful planning, the project was successfully completed without incident.
